Somos Pocos, pero Estamos Locos.

5. lauraw - September 22, 2007

Shit. I can’t remember how to say eleven either.

Remember the phonetic in dialect Italian tho, so there’s one victory for Nonna.

6. Dave in Texas - September 22, 2007

no clue.

I can’t even remember how to say it in German, and I flunked 3 years of that.

7. pajama momma - September 24, 2007

own-say

8. pajama momma - September 24, 2007

I’m pretty sure that’s how you spell it too.

9. daveintexas - September 24, 2007

German or Spanish?

10. mesablue - September 24, 2007

In German is sounds like “elf”. Can’t remember the spelling.

11. Mrs. Michael - September 25, 2007

It’s spelled “elf.”

12. Cuffy Meigs - September 25, 2007

German numbers get even gayer the higher you go:

647: sechshundertsiebenundvierzig

13. daveintexas - September 25, 2007

*smacks forehead* Elf.

Yeah Cuffy, the Germans really dig those run-on nouns.

14. Mrs. Michael - September 25, 2007

If they don’t have a word to describe it, they simply smack together lots of smaller words and make one up on the fly… part of what makes it an easier language to learn.

…Zwei jahres in der Gymnasium und zwei jahres in die Universitat. Ich habe vergessen zuviel. (I probably spelled something wrong, used the wrong gender, tense, or something… )
