Not in the article but in one of the video segments on Hurricane Dean, the reporter said it’s bigger than Texas right now?
Really? That’s big. Let’s see….
What do you think? Bout from Havana to the far end of Haiti… that’s 600 miles.
Well, that’s not as big as Texas, but it’s pretty big.
I was living in Charleston, SC in 1989 when Hugo came through.
Somewhere I still have copies of the local fishwrap with the satellite photos as the storm was making landfall.
It covered the entire state plus some.
Hurricanes: they change everything you thought you knew about everything.
A scale depiction of Texas fits neatly inside of one of Alaska. With room to spare.
There used to be a bunch of boasting and arrogance about Texas being biggest/best when I moved here in the early 80’s.
Today, not so much.
Maybe they meant “as big as Texas” in attitude, or self-confidence. Perhaps Dean likes to wear chaps with a large cowboy hat. Now that would make sense.

This is after she lost some power, but at her peak if you superimposed the image over Australia, you couldn’t see any land.
It was huge, and hit hard, The last day of typhoon tina was when I got bounced off an MP’s hood, and “guided” into my cell, actually it’s bars, and setting the stage for my courtmartial.
