A hero April 18, 2007

Posted by daveintexas in honor.
trackback

He threw his body in front of the door, in front of the madman.  And saved the lives of his students.

There is no greater love.

May you rest in peace Liviu.  You endured horrors most of us cannot imagine.  And yet you selflessly gave your own life, to save the lives of your students.

May God give peace and comfort to your family, your friends and loved ones.

Thank you.

UPDATE: carin mentions it’d be nice to see more of this fine man’s photograph instead of the nutjob killer.  I agree.

So I’ll post it here for my three readers.  Tell all your friends.

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: geoff explains how brilliant this man was.  He mostly uses words I can comprehend.

There is no greater love.

There it is. God Bless him and his family.

yep.

He recognized evil and walked TOWARD it to stop it, and maybe to look it in the eye and say “I’ve met you before. I’m not afraid.”

He’s an inspiration.

I like to see more of HIS picture on the webs, and less of that crazy. On some level, the crazy wanted recognition, which (post-mordem) he is now getting.

Not to go on … but if we encouraged the idolization of heros, instead of rewarding the narcissists in our society (gazing in the direction of Hollywood), perhaps we wouldn’t end up with such tragedies.

Yep. And thanks for that suggestion – I added his picture to the post.

KC, I like how you put that. I think you’re right. Whatever his feelings might have been, he confronted it, took it head on.

The hero has been laid to rest.

The quote from his son really got me.
