Simple pleasures March 3, 2007

Posted by daveintexas in guitarsrockandroll.

As long as I’m on a guitar theme, I might mention Ed Roman’s guitar shop, in Las Vegas Nevada.  Ed is the designer/luthier of his own Quicksilver model, and I have pined for one for years.  This one in particular,

My good friend, English Andy, has a guitar that looks like it was painted by the same guy. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn it was true. Andy lives in Vegas and I remember him telling me that his friend painted his guitar. I think it’s part of a Clapton Album cover?

Anyway, here’s the picture.

What do you think?

I think you better step down an octave, Geeze.

Not quite the same body style as a QS but definitely some kick ass artwork. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was done by one of Ed’s luthiers.

Yeah, I blow my f’n Eyeballs out and don’t get no respect.

BTW, I got to sit in with some friends last night at their 20th Annual Party. These same 4 guys and a girl have been together 20 years. It’s always a neat party with lots of kids dancing around with the adults. Used to be the band members kids, now it’s their grandkids.

I was videotaping them last night when they segued into “Tush”. Dude, that’s the one ZZT song that I’m Compelled to play. I whipped out my harp and started playing while still holding the camcorder. Mrs. G came up and took a picture of me doing it.

Geezer on f’n Fire.

Clicking on Ed Romans site I’ve never seen so many garrish looking guitars in one place. Heavy metal heaven. Its all a bit over the top for me. I don’t even like fenders but I must admit this Bravewood guy in Cornwall UK makes some stuff I’d like although this “relic” buisness makes me laugh.

My mind boggles when I look at harmony central as to how many small scale guitar manufacturers there are in the US and your prices are so much cheaper than over here. I’ve been thinking of buying from the states but I think the import tax would bump the price a lot. I’ve had my eye on a couple of baritone guitars as I think they’d suit my style but a seq-wah is first on my list when I have a spare 200quid
