Glad we didn’t contract it out.

Especially to this guy.

I’m sure they wanted to make a point about the fragility of the planet.

I have a feeling the insurers wish they hadn’t made their point within a few months.

UPDATE:  The sculptor, a Finnish born guy by the name of Eino, put a time capsule inside it, full of articles, essays, and answers to the question “what can we do to save the planet”?  It was supposed to be sealed for 1000 years.  I am reminded of this poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley (below the fold):

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said:—Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shatter’d visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamp’d on these lifeless things,
The hand that mock’d them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains: round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

It’s an engineering miracle.

Who wrote the headline, Greenpeace?

It’s not a sculpture, it’s a performance piece.

All right, guys. Next time there’s no playing on the sculptures until *after* we’ve lost the weight.
