So when do the koi go in?

2. daveintexas - August 20, 2006

Punk. Koi go in the grill at seven!

3. harrison - August 20, 2006

Just kiddin’, dad. It’s bootiful!
There’s nothing says “you’ve made it” like a cement pond.

4. Michael - August 20, 2006

Re picture #2:

I hope you realize that the tacky lawn furniture over by the fence does not cut it any more.

5. harrison - August 20, 2006

The pick-up truck?

6. Dave in Texas - August 20, 2006

Oh jeez Michael she picked out the pool furniture already… sitting in the garage waiting to be assembled.

Actually, I like it.

I will like it until I have to pay the AMEX bill.

7. lauraw - August 21, 2006

Gorgeous! I like the colors you chose.

Makes the water look real refreshing.

8. Innocent Bystanders » I QUESTION THE TIMING! - August 21, 2006

[…] Did UT ever win anything like this before Dave got his pool filled? […]

9. Michael - August 21, 2006

I can’t get img_0215.jpg (the first pic) to open. O214 opens just fine.

10. Dave in Texas - August 21, 2006

Yeah I see that. I’ll fix it.

AFTER I stop by IB and see what’s going on?

it’s been a busy day.

11. MadfishWillie - August 21, 2006

SWEET!

Now.. who was your contractor?

12. daveintexas - August 21, 2006

Ocean Quest Pools.

I’m really pleased with their work and how they’ve run the job.

Madfish, the PebbleTec contractor they used did a really good job… I was concerned after your comments about it, and having checked out a couple of finishes, but this one is really very smooth.

It’s beautiful!
I was reading the PebbleTec comments. It will tear up your feet after a while (even if it’s pretty smooth, but so will other stuff especially if you’re a kid), but you’ll toughen up and it’ll be swell. My two year old’s finger tips were bloody after a day of swim at a friend’s house because he hung onto the bull-nose coping all day. It’s just a matter of callouses developing.

But anyways, it’s gorgoeus. ENJOY!

14. pajama momma - August 21, 2006

Also, I love the way you guys have the spillway going onto the sunshelf. It looks really nice.

15. Dave in Texas - August 21, 2006

I’m a guitar man. My feet are tough as nails!

Sunshelf? Is that what they call that? Cool!

I got a sunshelf!

I haven’t been to full-moto Pool School yet, so I don’t know all the technical terms. I do know I don’t feel like screwing with pool maintenance though.. I’m willing to sub that out.

16. pajama momma - August 21, 2006

It’s not too expensive to do that, it’s smart too. My husband was a “pool guy” when we lived in Ca. So annoying how all the little girls in their bikinis would come out when it was time for him to clean. Ah karma, my girlfriend and I used to do that to our pool guys and to the missionaries. Except with the missionaries we added tequila to the mix.

17. MadfishWillie - August 22, 2006

Dave – I know Sandy Vollentine, the owner of Ocean Quest. Nice guy and a top-of-the line builder. I haven’t talked to or seen him in a couple of years, but was always impressed with his knowledge and desire to learn more about this business and inprove his company.

You done good with your selection of builders! Have a fun holiday!!!

18. Beth - August 22, 2006

AWESOME pool, Dave! I’m seething with envy!

These crazy kids.  What are ya gonna do?  They got money, video and bandwidth.

Poised, I’d say.

On the flip side, I’m swimming and Beth is green with envy.

Which I totally understand.  I used to hate those pool bastards.

21. SondraK - August 22, 2006

OMG…can you sit on the fountain jet?

22. daveintexas - August 22, 2006

not with the lights on.

the neighbors will talk.

23. Elzbth - August 22, 2006

Absolutely gorgeous. The blue finish is perfect. But I miss the sewer pipe. When are we going to see pictures of the cannonball splash?

24. SondraK - August 22, 2006

Ok..but we’ll always have my hot tub…

25. Dave in Texas - August 23, 2006

One of my favorite old Lone Star beer commercials is the recreation of that scene in “Casablanca” where Bogey tells Ilsa goodbye…

the Lone Star beer truck drive looks at his woman and says “we’ll always have that weekend in Nueva Lared-a”.

I don’t know why SondraK’s comment made me think of that.

26. Michael - August 24, 2006

I think it totally sucks that you get a pool and all the chicks are showing up at your site. Just remember that pool-blogging was my idea.

27. Retired Geezer - August 25, 2006

Just get the live webcam hooked up before the IB Babe Bikini Bash.

28. Lipstick - August 25, 2006

Is the webcam above or below water?

This is important to know.

29. Dave in Texas - August 25, 2006

There are actually 6.

Got to cover the spa, the deep end, the lounge chairs and the bar.

30. kevlarchick - August 26, 2006

That’s only 4 Dave. ‘Fess up.

31. Dave in Texas - August 26, 2006

the other two belong to the Department of Daveland Security. Can’t say where.

Always smile.

I’m not sure exactly why but this weblog is loading incredibly slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a problem on my end? I’ll check back later on
and see if the problem still exists.
