Stuff Jefferson Said May 1, 2006

In case you're wondering why I gave this title to the recent comments section.  It was my retarded habit to comment as Thomas Jefferson over at Ace of Spades HQ.  I had a little bit of fun at the expense of some dumb ass troll with the fake quote "Free speech is overrated, but not overtly so", and I kinda riffed with it.

Recently, real famous people such as Senator John Kerry who served in Vietnam have attributed a quote to Jefferson that is unverified, and they've been busted on it by Mark Steyn and others.  "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" isn't verified as a Jefferson quote.  Ace documents it thusly.

"Hello Sally my name is Thomas and we're going to be good friends" on the other hand is documented by multiple sources at the Jefferson Library.  There were a couple of others but they asked me to keep them quiet.

Apparently he and John Adams weren't real tight.

After all, what my teachers taught us about Goldwater in history class was that he hated African-Americans and wanted to drop H-bombs on Hanoi for giggles. Maybe that was just at my school, though.   […]
